This newsletter is short and sweet- sharing some pre-loved and more sustainable love-themed gifts that would make cute Valentine’s Day tokens of appreciation if that is something you’re into. All of these could also be gifted any time of the year because it’s nice to show love to the people we love.

These grown-up versions of elementary Valentine’s Day cards, complete with pasta-themed puns. They are basil-cly my favorite.
XXXOOO brooch. A very thoughtful friend gifted me a vintage one similar to this which had been her mother’s, I’ve been keeping it on my black wool coat all winter, and it’s a constant reminder of her and the joy she brings! Beyond my personal history, the xxxooo brooch is a storied item. Paloma Picasso designed the original one in her own handwriting (below in Gold) for Tiffany & Co in 1983 as she was inspired by the graffiti on the walls of New York City. The one I have is 925 Silver (a designation and standard for Mexico Silver) in bubble letters, which maybe at the time had been a dupe for the T&Co one, has now become its own collectible vintage moment.
Hothead Puffy Heart Clip- fellow substacker and long-time friend Amy Mazius designs accessories that are hand stitched with 100% upcycled silk, saving silk from landfills and giving it a very cute second life.
Pre-loved heart accessories- with the rise of the Alaïa Le Coeur bag last year, heart shaped bags are for more than just a themed love day outfit.
Coach Regenerative Leather Heart Bag- Let’s get further into regenerative practices trickling into the fashion industry for another newsletter but to sum it up for the Coach bag, the leather is sourced from farms that use regenerative agricultural practices.
I’m still not over vintage matches as a gift. In the holiday gift guide, I discussed how matches are perfect for sentimental creativity. The bar you met at, vintage classics from your favorite city, your go-to spot for catching up over cocktails, try the search ‘ ‘NYC vintage matches’ on ebay. You could even have a little DIY moment and turn them into coasters.
Support a small farm and regenerative grazing practices with the best caramels you will ever have. Our engagement ring designer gifted us some Big Picture farm caramels years ago and I continue to pass on the gift to others. It is also perfectly satisfying when you too *deserve a little treat.*
Love You Bunches Wine- This is my favorite '“goes well for almost every situation” wine + also a very cute label that makes a great host gift. Stolpman Vineyards is committed to preserving the natural environment for their vines through conscious farming, dry farming, & sustainable employment, they prefer native fermentation & minimal manipulation. I’m such a big fan we are in their So Fresh wine subscription club. If looking for a NA drink, I love everything I have tried at Boisson so far.
I love all of you bunches! Thank you for reading Something Borrowed, Never New. You can see even more gift ideas in my shop. Also, I have something really exciting to announce soon, stay tuned on Instagram .
