While we’re in the midst of fashion-month, sustainable fashion is being talked about more so than ever. The New York Times questioned, “What makes sustainable fashion?” We saw carbon-neutral and plastic-free shows but also watched Coach send shearling clad models down the runway and touted it as sustainable if you consider it an investment piece. The jury is still out on what qualifies any piece of new clothing as “sustainable.” Fact: The most sustainable clothes are the ones you already own. Either way, I agree with the conclusion The Cut came to, Fashion Week is just not sustainable. However, it’s important to call out brands that are trying to be better, so we can all learn from each other and push the needle towards a better future.
